Soon you will receive discount coupons and e-tickets on your hand phone

August 10th, 2008 · No Comments · General

ValueFirst has developed a technology whereby barcodes read by the standard POS barcode reader can be sent directly to the mobile handset. The technology does not require MMS and WAP support. Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, ITC, Nortel, HCL Technologies, TCS, P&G, Standard Chartered Bank are some of the top clients who have signed up for the service.

The only limitation is that the current barcode technology can be used for delivering discount coupon and e-tickets that have only up to eight characters. The company is working on 2d barcode that will be able to delivery up to 117 characters.

However, already the 2D barcode technology has found a customer in IATA (International Air Transport Association). IATA has mandated that all boarding tickets be replaced by barcode tickets by 2010.
